The other day it was reported that the Premier League would today consider a proposal to end this summer's transfer window early.

The idea was to close the transfer window before the season starts so that managers have their squad assembled and ready to go when the season kicks off.

A big problem that the Premier League faced was that they'd have to get other leagues to fall in line otherwise players could still leave to go abroad rendering the whole exercise pointless.

The Premier League have today confirmed that the transfer window will shut on 1st September, but there is a bizarre change in effect this year.

The Premier League are splitting the summer transfer window in two

As announced by the Premier League, This summer's transfer window will now be split into two separate windows with the first opening on Sunday 1st June and closing on Tuesday 10th June.

It will re-open again on Monday 16th June until Monday 1st September. The reason for this bizarre break is to do with the registration period for the FIFA Club World Cup which will take place this summer.

There was no mention of whether or not the proposal to close the window before the seasons starts was even voted on.

We are expecting to see some fireworks this summer

We can't wait to see the chaos that little six-day break is going to cause.

Imagine two clubs agreeing on a fee for a player; they agree to everything, but they miss the first deadline on the 10th, so they can't conclude their business until the 16th when the window opens again. Then, during that six-day period, another club comes in and snakes the deal from under the original club.

We are in for some fun and games this summer, I reckon. The Premier League really are a bizarre organisation.
