Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish has taken to television to weigh in on his thoughts of Newcastle United's approach for defender Marc Guehi.
The Magpies have been in talks with the Eagles over the last fortnight for the 24-year-old, but it seems like they are getting nowhere due to Parish's most recent comments.
Newcastle have had two bids knocked back by Palace with a third, thought to be in the region of £60million currently being considered by the London-based club.
It has previously been reported that Palace wouldn't accept anything less than £65m for Guehi.
The Magpies are still in the market for a new defender, hence the club pushing for Guehi.
Should it fall through, however, sporting director Paul Mitchell has other options available with a nicer price tag.
Newcastle could return to negotiations with AC Milan for defender Malick Thiaw who is valued at around £40m, but that deal looks to be all but dead with the German international seemingly happy to play Champions League football in Milan.
Joachim Andersen; another Palace defender, is another option for Toon boss Eddie Howe but they must act fast as Fulham recently made an improved offer for the Danish international.
Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is another player thought to be highly rated by Newcastle's backroom staff. The Reds seem to be having a fire sale as of late making players available for loans and transfers left, right and centre. A deal could be made but with three years left on his contract Newcastle may have to splash the cash.
Newcastle's defensive search continues and they could look no further than Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. Manchester United looked set to sign the 22-year-old before opting to sign from abroad.
The Magpies may have to fork out as much as £60m for the England international, however.
A star playing in Portugal, Ousmane Diomande has also been linked with a move to Tyneside this summer with an approach made in June. He looks to be available for around £42m this season.
