Leeds United provide the next challenge for Newcastle United when they come to St James' Park on Wednesday night for an 8:15 pm kick-off, live on Sky Sports.

The visitors have been scooping up points lately and are unbeaten in seven games, a run that has seen them take points off Chelsea, Liverpool (twice), Manchester United and Sunderland.

It's not going to be an easy task for the Magpies, and when you combine that with Eddie Howe's dreadful record against Leeds, and we're not too proud to admit that we are very nervous.

However, at home and coming into the game following back-to-back wins, we have to be using that confidence as a boost.

Paul Merson expects Leeds United to leave St James' Park with a point

Paul Merson can't separate the two sides, but he's clearly expecting an entertaining game as he predicts the score for Sportskeeda.

"Leeds are doing really well. They're nicking points in difficult games when West Ham are failing to win easier matches. It's a huge boost to Leeds' aspirations of avoiding relegation.

"Newcastle weren't great the other day. Even though they won 2-0 against Crystal Palace, I wasn't really impressed by the performance. I was surprised that Nick Woltemade did not come off the bench quicker in that game. Newcastle were up against a back three and he would have been useful from the start.

"Considering the way both teams are playing, I wouldn't be surprised if Leeds got something out of this game. I'm going for an entertaining draw here.

"Prediction: Newcastle United 2-2 Leeds United"

It's a game Newcastle should be winning

It being a home game, we feel we must be winning this one. As much as Leeds are picking up some good points of late, they're still a side that we should be beating, especially at St James' Park.

Having said that, though, we can absolutely see this one being a draw. We've said it a couple of times now, but this game has a stoppage-time equaliser for Leeds written all over it.

Let's hope that Chris Sutton's prediction is the one that comes to pass, though. His actual score prediction, that is, not the Dominic Calvert-Lewin stoppage time goal.
