Eddie Howe needs to add more creativity down the right-hand side of his attack, especially with Miguel Almiron likely to be moved on this summer.

Newcastle United's priority position to fill this summer is a right-sided forward as it has long been identified as a weak spot in the squad.

Miguel Almiron had his purple patch in October of the 2022/23 season but wasn't able to replicate that kind of form ever again and is now seemingly right at the top of the club's list of first-team players to move on.

A replacement is being sought with many players being identified as potential targets. Two of which come from Leeds United.

Wilfried Gnonto is more likely to end up at Everton than Newcastle

Graeme Bailey has tipped Gnonto to move elsewhere

Newcastle are said to be interested in both Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto who have been battling over the starting spot for The Whites. Summerville is also a target for Liverpool, while Newcastle face a battle with Everton for £25million-rated Gnonto.

However, journalist Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that he doesn't see Gnonto heading to Newcastle.

“I think he’s on their radar. He is a player who Newcastle like, but I do not think he is anywhere near the top of their list.

“Everton like him a lot. He is more likely to go elsewhere than Newcastle.

“I’ll be brutally honest, if Newcastle finish the summer with Gnonto as their attacking signing and believe he is the answer, I’m not sure what the question is. He is one for the future, more than a readymade answer.”

Gnonto may not be ready to be a regular starter

What Bailey says makes sense. Gnonto definitely has potential and looked really good in the Premier League with Leeds, but last season in the Championship he didn't seem to kick on and only actually managed a full 90 minutes on four occasions all season.

If we could pick him up for £25million we'd be getting a good deal, but we would also still need someone who was poised and ready to take on the responsibility full-time with Gnonto as a backup.

Everton have always seemed more keen and it's highly likely that's where he'll end up despite turning them down 12 months ago.
