Nottingham Forest are having a lot of success with their former Newcastle United duo lately.

Chris Wood can't seem to stop scoring for Forest lately and the 'Geordie Maradona' is living up to his name with some mesmerising skills on display in the game against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Indeed, some Newcastle fans are looking wistfully into the distance imagining what could have been.

However, there are others who still aren't convinced and it has opened up quite the debate in NUFCFEED Towers.

We had a bit of chat about Anderson in the office this morning

Nottingham Forest posted the 'Magic Feet' clip on X as well as another post saying "We need to talk about Elliot Anderson".

So, here at NUFCFEED, we did just that and while there was an acknowledgement of his talent, there was also a consensus that he'd likely have been wasted if he'd stayed at the club.

Anderson is thriving in the number 10 role at Forest, something that he simply wouldn't have played at Newcastle. Anderson would likely have sat behind Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and even Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff in the pecking order for a regular midfield role, or even behind Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes on left wing.

His first-team appearances would have been much more limited at Newcastle than at Nottingham Forest.

There's still little actual end product from Anderson yet

There was also the fact that he's still not managed to score a senior goal for either Newcastle or Nottingham Forest and he only has one assist for Forest this season.

He's got all the silky moves, for sure, but there's no end product from him yet. We are 100% sure that it will come eventually and we still back Anderson to be a top player, but it was probably beneficial for him to leave Newcastle even though nobody was happy that it had to happen at the time.

If he goes on to be a huge star like we all suspected, we can always just do what Sunderland did with Jordan Pickford and Jordan Henderson and claim everything they did for other clubs as their own achievements. (Please don't do that, though.)
