St James' Park will host The Sela Weekender on 9th and 10th August with three matches to be played over a two-day period.

The event will get underway on Friday 9th August as Newcastle United take on Girona at 7:30pm before the men's side look to retain the Sela Cup in a game against Stade Brestois on the Saturday at 4pm.

Between those two games, however, is the return to St James' Park for Becky Langley's Women's side. We reported earlier in the month that AC Milan were set to be the Lasses opponents, and today has brought confirmation of that.

Kick-off between Newcastle United Women and AC Milan women will be at 1pm on Saturday 10th.

Becky Langley is excited to return to St James' Park

Becky Langley spoke to the NUFC media team for the official site to outline her excitement of the upcoming challenge.

"The excitement ahead of this season continues to build after an amazing couple of years celebrating promotions. This team has been on an incredible journey and special parts of this have been playing at St. James' Park in front of thousands of passionate fans.

"To be able to face European opposition like AC Milan Women, at St. James' Park, is great as it will give us a different test and help with our preparations ahead of this coming season, which we can't wait start."

Newcastle Women are going for a third straight promotion

Newcastle United Women are going for their third straight promotion which would see them join the elite in the Women's Super League. It may be a tall order, but the ladies aren't messing around when it comes to building a team capable of doing so.

Langley has been very active in the transfer market bringing in last season's Championship Player of the Season, Claudia Moan from Sunderland and former England defender and Euro 2022 winner, Demi Stokes.

If the lasses manage to beat AC Milan at St James' Park that will no doubt be a huge boost of confidence heading into the season.
