Newcastle United will be making moves to bring in a new winger in the summer with just Jacob Murphy to call upon on the right and there being a feeling that Harvey Barnes could be sold.

Right-wing has to be the priority for Newcastle, but it seems like the Magpies are also assessing their options on the left flank, too, after sending scouts to watch Feyenoord's Brazilian winger Igor Paixao in Champions League action this week.

Primarily a left-winger, it does suggest that Newcastle could be looking to offload Harvey Barnes in the summer, a plan that was also mooted in January.

There's nothing to say that Paixao couldn't be brought in as well as Harvey Barnes, however. It depends on how Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell are planning to solve their winger issues.

Igor Paixao took just three minutes to get the better of Kyle Walker

The 24-year-old made light work of former Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker on Wednesday night as Feyenoord beat AC Milan thanks to a Paixao goal.

Paixao is now eight goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season, with that goal coming in front of Newcastle and Bournemouth scouts, according to SunSport.

They also report that Paixao is keen on a move to the Premier League and could be available for £25 million.

Newcastle have a good relationship with Feyenoord

Newcastle developed a strong relationship with Feyenoord last season thanks to the deal to take Yankuba Minteh to Rotterdam, so the Magpies could be handed an advantage if they choose to pursue the Brazilian in the summer.

It's a relatively low-cost deal for a top talent, and our reservations really start and end with the fact that he plays on the left, and we need someone for the right much more urgently.

However, Newcastle's squad is so barebones, we can't really complain about us signing for any position.
