Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning ahead of Wednesday night's clash between Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers which is live on TNT Sports with an 8pm kick-off.

After resting the bulk of his starting XI on Sunday for the FA Cup third-round win over Bromley, Howe will be looking to return to the norm in order to continue Newcastle's fantastic run of form.

Alexander Isak was rested after feeling a tweak in the Carabao Cup win over Arsenal but Eddie Howe expects him to be raring to go tomorrow night.

However, it wasn't all good news for Newcastle United as they will be without the services of Harvey Barnes.

Harvey Barnes could be out for a month

Harvey Barnes was withdrawn at half time on Sunday and could now miss the next month

Eddie Howe confirmed (via The Chronicle) that the thigh issue the £39 million signing from Leicester City felt on Sunday which saw him withdrawn at half time could now keep him out for around a month.

"He’s had a scan. It’s not too bad but he will miss the upcoming games. We’re looking at around a month."

Barnes has been in and out of the side this season, scoring some crucial goals for Newcastle, and has always been a handy tool in Newcastle's arsenal for coming off the bench late on, but Howe will have to do without that option for a while.

Eddie Howe is expecting to have the players who missed out on Sunday back for selection

Howe also touched on the current state of play of the other players who missed out on Sunday with minor niggles. Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy and Sven Botman were all kept away from danger, but could return tomorrow.

"We'll have a look at them again today.

"They were left out with genuine reasons, all different things, but nothing major we hope. So minor problems that we needed to settle down. Fingers crossed they'll be there or thereabouts."
