Newcastle United are set to make a bizarre move for Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus in a deal worth around £55million, reports suggests.

The Brazilian has failed to make an impact at the Gunners since signing from Manchester City in 2022 scoring just 15 goals in 61 appearances.

Jesus has failed to find the net in the Premier League this season including Saturday's 1-0 defeat to the Magpies on Saturday where he played 19 minutes off the bench.

The 27-year-old did score and bag an assist in their 3-0 win against Preston in the Carabao Cup last week albeit against a team struggling in the Championship.

GiveMeSport recently reported that Jesus could negotiate a move away from the Emirates. His future will be assessed in the coming weeks.

Gabriel Jesus could be a replacement for Alexander Isak

It feels like this season could be Europe or bust for some Newcastle stars who are capable enough to play at the highest level consistently.

Toon forward Alexander Isak is one of those players, the Swedish international has now score three goals in as many games in all competitions after returning from a toe injury.

According to Fichajes, Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell is already looking for a replacement for the 25-year-old who has been linked to moves away to Arsenal and Chelsea.

Last season saw Isak celebrate his coming out party to the Premier League becoming the first Newcastle player in 20 years to score over 20 goals in a Premier League season.

Alexander Isak's value a big talking point amid contract breakdown

It's no secret that contract negotiations between Newcastle and the Swede have stalled which caused some Geordies to worry about his immediate future.

Isak is still under contract for just under four years so any interested party would have to pay a substantial fee for his services.

The same goes for Jesus who also has a hefty £265k per week wage on top of his transfer fee. With Newcastle's PSR woes persisting, it seems unlikely Mitchell will be keen to make a move for a player on such a high salary.

The Magpies may seem eager to bring in another quality forward due to Callum Wilson's extensive injury layoffs.
