Newcastle United are set to take on Everton on Saturday in the late afternoon game on Sky Sports - 5:30pm kick-off.
Eddie Howe is likely to field winger Anthony Gordon as a makeshift striker again like he did against Manchester City as Alexander Isak nurses a broken toe.
The Sweden international has also not been called up for his country for the upcoming Nations League games while he recovers from his latest injury.
Newcastle started the season with just Alexander Isak as their only fit and ready striker and while new signing Will Osula now has a couple of appearances under his belt, the feeling is he's not ready to step in and fill the void just yet.
It has, in all honesty, been a shaky start to the season for Alexander Isak playing as the sole striker. The Magpies have taken a while to get up to speed and in the one game where they played well enough to provide Isak with service the 25-year-old wasn't on the pitch.
However, his exploits last season were more than good enough to show what an important player the Magpies have on their hands and with that in mind, the club are set to open negotiations over a new deal.
Isak's current contract still has four years to run but Give Me Sport are reporting that, despite the club's confidence that Isak's commitment to the club remains, they want to repay his good form with a new contract and will also use the new deal to send a signal to the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea that Isak's going nowhere.
Arsenal were consistently linked with an interest in Isak all summer nut a move never materialised. And by virtue of the fact that Isak draws breath, it stands to reason that Chelsea are also interested.
It's great to hear that the club aren't worried about Isak's commitment and the striker does seem to genuinely love it at Newcastle, but if we don't start getting him into the game more, how long is that going to last?
We expect Isak will be back to face Brighton on 19th of October and hopefully by then the side will have found their rhythm again and Isak can capitalise.
