Newcastle United keep being linked with an interest in Celta Vigo full-back Oscar Mingueza.

The Mingueza rumours appeared a couple of weeks ago, originating in Spain and as a result, we just brushed past them and didn't bother, but it doesn't seem to be going away, so we'll have a look.

It's Mundo Deportivo in Spain who are writing that Newcastle are one of several Premier League clubs chasing Mingueza and could move for the 26-year-old in January.

As reported by The Athletic, a full-back could be one position Newcastle could look to recruit in January, so it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

"Come and get me!"

Newcastle is reportedly one of three Premier League clubs eyeing Oscar Mingueza

Oscar Mingueza is out of contract in the summer, which is why there's so much transfer buzz about the former Barcelona man.

It appears to be West Ham who are at the front of the queue for the four-times capped Spanish right-back. Newcastle and Aston Villa are also keen, as are RB Leipzig and Marseille.

Mingueza's versatility could make him the ideal January recruitment for Eddie Howe as he can play on either side of the back four as well as centre-back, and has even played on the right side of midfield for Celta this season.

We're not so sure about this one

We are yet to be convinced by this story. Partly because all of the noise is coming from Spain, with very little in the way of confirmation from these shores.

Also, at 26, we feel that Mingueza is right at the top end of the age bracket Newcastle will be looking to recruit for, and therefore, there'll be other people ahead of him on the list.

With all that being said, though, his contract situation does make him an intriguing prospect, so we can't completely rule this one out.
