There has been a question doing the rounds on Newcastle United's social media recently that had us wondering the answer too - Why does Joelinton wear a wrist bandage when he plays?

Every time Brazilian powerhouse Joelinton takes to the pitch, you will notice that he has his right hand and wrist strapped up.

Recently on Facebook, someone asked if he was carrying a knock or whether he was covering up a tattoo.

Well, finally, we have an answer from the man himself.

Joelinton confirmed why he always wears a bandage on his wrist

Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes fielded a bunch of questions for the Adopted Geordie podcast, and while the entire two-part interview is gold, it was great to finally get an answer to one of Newcastle United's biggest mysteries. What's with the bandage, Joey? It was Bruno who answered the question on Joelinton's behalf initially while rolling his eyes.

"Superstition. Nothing else."

Joelinton did eventually offer up his own explanation, saying it helps get him in the right mindset for the game, but Bruno kept mocking him for it.

Bruno and Joelinton would be amazing at The Newlywed Game

At one point, Joelinton claimed it started because of an injury, which prompted Bruno to chime in again...

"Five years ago!"

The banter between them is priceless; they absolutely adore each other and would definitely run through walls for each other.

At one point, they are asked if they were stuck on a desert island with one current teammate, who would it be? They, of course, both said each other, but it was Bruno's "Joe will protect me" response that made it a winner.
