Never let facts get in the way of a good story is clearly the thinking behind this latest Newcastle United rumour.
Eddie Howe has worked wonders at Newcastle United, becoming the first manager in 70 years to bring a domestic trophy to Tyneside, bringing Champions League football back for the Toon Army, and that's before we even mention turning Joelinton into Brazil's best player and Jacob Murphy into a Ballon d'Or nominee.
The mere fact that he's won a major trophy should be enough to guarantee him security in his job until he does something drastically wrong or loses the first five games in a row next season.
Of course, though, not everybody thinks like a Newcastle United fan, nor should they, obviously, but when it comes to football journalists, they should give some things a bit more thought than they seem to do.
A new report has surfaced on Football Transfers which suggests Newcastle are eyeing up former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandes to replace Eddie Howe in a bid to bring more gravitas to the club and to keep star striker Alexander Isak happy.
Apparently, Isak was a big fan of Xavi as a player, so of course, that makes him the ideal candidate to manage him at Newcastle.
Also, Xavi has expressed a desire to manage in the Premier League, so, again, that makes him the perfect fit for the Magpies.
There will come a time when Eddie Howe moves on, whether it be of his own volition or the owners feel like it's time for change, but now really isn't the time.
Howe has done nothing to suggest he's out of his depth, only that he's A) not foreign, and B) has only a Carabao Cup title to his name. However, the fact that he has a major honour to his name, the first English manager to do so since 2008, by the way, surely is proof that if he's given enough time, he could become an 'elite' manager.
Maybe if Eddie changes his name to Edoardo Aue so he doesn't sound so English, he'd have more respect put on his name.
