Newcastle United learn asking price for 'magic' Portuguese winger but Ruben Amorim set to launch bid to reunite with star

There are many names on Newcastle United's not-so-shortlist of players to fill the gaping void on the right side of Eddie Howe's attack.

It has been widely reported that Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford is the Magpies' priority this summer, but if we learned anything from last summer's transfer window it's that we can't expect to land our priority target, nor can we spend all summer chasing them and ignoring everything else.

Thankfully, it does seem like Paul Mitchell is compiling a decent list of targets and recently is was reported that Francisco Trincao has been added to that list.

The Sporting Lisbon winger is having a phenomenal season in Portugal, and now Premier League clubs are lining him up to bring him back after an unsuccessful loan spell in England with Wolverhampton Wanderers when he was on Barcelona's books.

Since leaving Wolves, Trincao has found his form again earning himself a recall to the Portugal squad as well as many admirers around Europe.

Newcastle United's interest is said to be matched by Manchester United who hold the advantage of being managed by Ruben Amorim who of course managed Trincao at Sporting before he left for Old Trafford.

The Mirror also reports that Barcelona, who sold Trincao to Sporting after his loan spell at the club, have a buy-back option in his contract and could be willing to activate it.

Their report also places a £30 million valuation on Francisco Trincao, who was said to be 'magic' by former youth coach, Jose Carvalho Araujo, which definitely puts him in the affordable category for Newcastle.

The Magpies have been reported to be ready to fork out £50 million to acquire the services of Bryan Mbeumo, so it makes sense that they'd be prepared to pay £20 million less for another target.

As with all of the players Newcastle have and will be linked with, it all depends on where they sit on Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe's list of priorities as to how and when the club will make their move.
