Newcastle United lean into Bromley defender's nickname for Joelinton with quality social media post

Bromley FC are the newest team to join the Football League as they enjoy their first season in League Two. To add to that accomplishment, former Newcastle United goalkeeper coach Andy Woodman has managed his Bromley side at St James' Park in the FA Cup.

Woodman and Bromley came to St James' Park on Sunday where he, his players and the Bromley fans did themselves very proud in the FA Cup third round, taking an early lead over Eddie Howe's Newcastle.

Unfortunately for Bromley, their lead only lasted a few minutes and from there on out, the Magpies were in full control of the tie eventually running out 3-1 winners.

However, we're sure it was an experience that those Bromley players will never forget, and indeed, Bromley centre-back Omar Sowumni certainly won't forget his tussle with one Newcastle man in a hurry.

Oman Sowumni has given Joelinton a new nickname that looks like will stick

Sowumni posted a video on his TikTok chronicling the day in the North East, during which he showed a couple of highlights from the game and at one point he referred to Joelinton as 'Thanos', the giant purple Marvel villain.

It's a name that is definitely going to stick as Newcastle fans are loving it, and it seems the NUFC X admin is a fan too after posting an image of the Brazilian Beast to X with this one-word caption:

"Inevitable."

If Joelinton doesn't wear an Infinity Gauntlet on Saturday I'm going to be very disappointed

For the uninitiated, that is a callback to Avengers: Endgame where Thanos thinks he has defeated The Avengers and says "I am inevitable". If you haven't seen it, I'll not spoil it beyond that.

I will say, though, if none of the lads have bought Joelinton an infinity gauntlet yet, then what are they playing at?
