As we get over our little rant about the media trying to unsettle our players with talks of transfer moves, we find ourselves on the other end today as a report is now suggesting Newcastle United are confident that they can land 22-year-old England international from Liverpool for just £30 million.

Obviously, £30 million isn't pocket change, and in these PSR-governed times, that could make quite a dent in Newcastle's available funds.

But for a 22-year-old full England international from who are likely to be the Premier League champions come the summer, £30 million is peanuts.

The Times claim that Newcastle are confident that an initial bid of £30 million will be enough to prise Jarell Quansah away from Liverpool, however.

Jarell Quansah is a £30m target for Newcastle

Newcastle can offer Jarell Quansah first-team football

Quansah has been on Newcastle's radar since last summer and the young Liverpool star has been called up to a few England squads, including the latest by Thomas Tuchel, but has yet to make his debut.

Indeed, Quansah has struggled to hold down a first-team place at club level which is where Newcastle get their confidence.

The Magpies believe that £30 million plus add-ons should be enough to convince Liverpool, and a promise of regular first-team football will temp Quansah into the move.

Liverpool's valuation of Jarell Quansah is above £30m

Liverpool hold a higher value for Quansah, but if the player starts agitating for a move with a promise of regular game time, they may drop their valuation.

The add-ons package would have to be impressive, you'd imagine though. There's definitely a feeling of some truth to this one, but as for whether a deal could be done at this value, we're not convinced.

It all really depends on whether Quansah makes a push for the move, we suspect.
