Newcastle United have been handed a sizeable chunk of tickets for the upcoming FA Cup clash with Blackburn Rovers.
The Jon Dahl Tomasson derby is scheduled to take place at Ewood Park on Tuesday 27th February at 7:45pm and the good folks at Blackburn have seen fit to give Newcastle the full allocation of the Darwin End which is around 7000 tickets.
After the club had to fight so hard to get a decent allocation for the away fixture against Sunderland and then the miserly 3800 tickets allocated by Fulham, it's nice that Newcastle have been handed a generous amount without having to fight for it.
The match will be shown live on the BBC as well.
The Magpies are having a very stressful season when it comes to away games, with having to fight for allocations but more importantly, the ongoing issue with away games being moved for TV.
Newcastle fans have by far the biggest amount of miles to cover in a Premier League season (according to Cinch) at 8835 with the next highest being Bournemouth at 6883, almost 2000 miles difference.
With so many teams based in and around London, Newcastle have a lot of ground to cover to get to these games, and it almost always seems to be these fixtures that get switched for TV and put to late kick-offs or midweek games for maximum disruption.
The Toon Army's loyalty is a blessing and a curse. TV companies know that our fans will always find a way to travel to sell out the away sections of grounds so they have no problem with messing us around.
At least Blackburn is just a couple of hours' drive, and for a place in the FA Cup quarter-final, it's worth it.
