The news broke earlier this week that Newcastle United co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi will be selling off their minority stake in the club and Amanda Staveley will relinquish all club duties.

It was an announcement that seemingly came out of the blue but it is something that had always been part of the plan since the takeover went through.

Amanda Staveley was the face of the takeover after she got the PIF and the Reuben Brothers to put the money up to make the takeover happen.

Since then Staveley and Ghodoussi have spent a lot of time meeting fans with Amanda Staveley heavily involved with the rise of the women's team and bringing them into the club.

Newcastle United have now confirmed the news

On Friday night at around 7:45pm Newcastle United posted on X that Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi will be stepping away from the club.

"Newcastle United today announces that an agreement has been reached to change the club’s ownership structure.

"PIF and RB Sports & Media will together acquire PCP Capital Partners’ shareholding in the club and Amanda Staveley will step down from all her positions with Newcastle United.

"Our sincere thanks to Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi."

Thank you, Mandy and Mehrdad

We're sure that Mehrdad and Amanda will still be keeping an eye on the proceedings at Newcastle and will no doubt be spotted at St James' Park in the future as invited guests.

We join the club in wishing both Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi all the best in the future and we offer sincere thanks for everything they have done.

Onwards to the future!
