Newcastle United have a few strikers on their wishlist this summer as they look to provide quality support for Alexander Isak.

It looks like Callum Wilson will call time on his Newcastle career when his contract expires at the end of the season leaving just Alexander Isak and Will Osula as recognised strikers at Eddie Howe's disposal.

Will Osula still seems to be some way off being trusted by Eddie Howe to be used regularly, and as good as youngster Sean Neave has been, and even though he already has a winner's medal to his name, it's unlikely he'll be pushed into the first team next season.

Jonathan David remains our number one choice to bring in, but there have been other names mentioned that have piqued our curiosity.

Moise Kean has a release clause active this summer

Moise Kean has a release clause that is only active in the first two weeks of the transfer window

Fiorentina's Moise Kean who had a spell at Everton, is one player Newcastle have cast their eye over after scoring 15 goals in 26 Serie A outings this season.

It's reported that Kean has a release clause which could see the Italian move for £43 million, but while Calciomercato believes that there's a 'concrete possibility' Newcastle will activate the release clause, there is one big issue.

The clause is only active for a two-week period from 1st - 15th July, which means Newcastle will have little time to work through their priority list before opting to move for Kean, if indeed they are willing to do so.

Newcastle may have to risk trying to sign Kean after his release clause expires

It's very likely that Moise Kean is on Newcastle's list of options, but as for where he sits on the list only those inside the club will know, but if there are players Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe have identified as a better fit than Keane, they will have to ensure that their chances of signing those players are way less than the chances of signing Keane, and doing that in the first two weeks of the window seems unlikely.

There's always a chance that Fiorentina could still be willing to do a deal for Kean even after his clause has ended, but they may push for more than the £43 million dictated by the clause.

We're just happy enough to know that Newcastle are indeed looking to bring in striker reinforcements this summer. They are sorely needed.
