Newcastle United look set to complete a deal with Crystal Palace for talented defender Marc Guehi as early as this weekend.

Yesterday, reports came out saying that talks were progressing positively between the two parties with Guehi urging his representatives to get the deal done.

The 24-year-old was one of the standout players in this summer's Euro 2024 tournament where the Three Lions were heartbroken in the final.

Now, the Magpies are eager to look further up the pitch once Guehi's move is completed.

Newcastle eyeing a new forward after Marc Guehi

Toon boss Eddie Howe is eager to add more first-team quality to his side and with the arrival of Guehi he can look at more attacking options.

It is no secret that the Magpies are in the market for a new right-sided forward, especially after offloading Yankuba Minteh in June to alleviate PSR concerns.

Newcastle are set to announce the signing of Sheffield United forward William Osula after the Danish youth international was on Tyneside for a medical.

The thought is that Osula; who can play up front and on the wing will be a third choice to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.

Paul Mitchell is working hard behind the scenes

Newly appointed sporting director Paul Mitchell has already worked his magic to lure Guehi to Tyneside.

Now he is looking to sprinkle some more magic dust to bring in a new attacking option for Howe.

Following the friendly win against Hull a couple of weeks ago, Howe admitted that he has been working with Mitchell holding daily recruitment meetings.

The new season is now just 11 days away and after a few worrisome months, it looks like Newcastle are beginning to make the moves that fans were hoping for at the beginning of the transfer window.
