Newcastle United are close to completing the signing of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi for a potential club-record fee, according to recent reports.

It was recently revealed that the Magpies were in talks with the 24-year-old who is reportedly keen on the move.

Guehi was an integral part of the Three Lions squad that reached this summer's Euro 2024 final, ultimately losing to Spain.

Now, Guehi has earned a big money move to a new club on the rise with the fee reported to be well in excess of £60million.

Newcastle set to beat Liverpool and Arsenal for Marc Guehi

The Magpies were the first side to begin talks with Guehi and it looks to have done the trick - new sporting director Paul Mitchell has clearly worked his magic to bring the Englishman in.

Reports last week said that Liverpool had joined the race for Guehi, with Arsenal holding a long-term interest in the defender.

According to Luke Edwards of The Telegraph, Talks have reportedly progressed over the last few days and there is confidence from both parties that a deal can be reached.

Although no fee has been agreed yet for the 24-year-old the Magpies are confident that an agreement can be made by the weekend.

Guehi has impressed for Crystal Palace

The exit is a huge blow for Palace who will need to invest in a new long-term centre-back to replace a seemingly irreplaceable Guehi.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner barely got to use him due to an extended absence with a knee problem.

A big bonus for Newcastle is that Guehi is keen on getting the deal done and has urged his representatives to make the deal happen.

The Magpies are looking at a potential defensive line of Lewis Hall, Sven Botman, Marc Guehi and Tino Livramento. All players under the age of 25, there's a huge opportunity for development.
