Newcastle United will be looking to bring in another striker in the summer with Eddie Howe having to use midfielders as strikers several times this season.
The injury crisis at Newcastle United this season has exposed the lack of squad depth at the club at times with one position looking particularly short of bodies - centre forward.
Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are Newcastle's two recognised strikers and both have been very prone to injuries since they joined the club, so going into a season with just those two forwards on the books was always going to be a risk.
Obviously, nobody could have seen some of the freak injuries Newcastle have suffered coming, but a look at the number of games both Isak and Wilson have missed in the past should have been an indication that a third striker was needed.
Eddie Howe is unlikely to make the same mistake again, and according to journalist Ekrem Konour, Newcastle already have their eye on a potential summer signing who can fill that gap.
Taking to X, Konour has claimed that Newcastle are keen on Lens striker, Elye Wahi. The 21-year-old France U21 striker has apparently caught the eye of Newcastle after scoring five goals in 18 games for Lens in Ligue 1 since his move from Montpellier at the start of the season.
Wahi earned a move to Lens after impressing at Montpellier - a game against Lyon in which he Wahi scored four goals was likely a big factor in Lens' decision to make their move.
Possessing bags of pace and strength, Wahi looks like he could be a success in the Premier League, but it's not just Newcastle who have their eye on him with Chelsea also keen on the youngster having missed out on signing him last year. In fact, it was reported that Wahi had rejected Chelsea and opted to join West Ham before he ultimately signed for Lens.
From what we've seen of him, Wahi looks like he'd be a fantastic signing for Newcastle but at €50million (£48.2million) he's not exactly cheap, so it could be seen as a big risk. Hopefully, it's one we take.
