Newcastle United are working hard behind the scenes to identify realistic summer transfer targets amid pressure from Financial Fair Play restrictions.
Eddie Howe needs to bring in quality players who will take the squad to the next level, but FFP restrictions make an already difficult task all the more challenging.
Newcastle have been looking at players whose contracts are expiring, with the likes of Lloyd Kelly of Bournemouth and Tosin Adarabioyo of Fulham two players who have been linked with moves to Tyneside when their current deals expire.
However, Eddie Howe won't be able to build up a team of players he picked up for free, so he must also look for clever solutions to his problem which is why he is reportedly eyeing players from Turkey.
A report from Turkish outlet Aksam has claimed that Newcastle have reached out to Fenerbahce over 28-year-old winger Irfan Kahveci over a potential summer transfer.
The Turkish side could be tempted to cash in on Kahveci despite his impressive form this season as his contract is set to expire next summer and he could leave on a free transfer.
Kahveci has amassed an impressive 18 goals and 12 assists for Fenerbahce this season in 45 appearances across all competitions, so it's no wonder Newcastle, along with Lazio and Sevilla, are keen to snap him up.
Miguel Almiron is expected to leave Newcastle this summer which leaves the right wing spot wide open for someone to come in and make their own. Anthony Gordon has had a lot of success down the right recently, but has made no secret of the fact that he's more comfortable on the left.
Jacob Murphy has flavour of the month with Eddie Howe and he did have a decent game against Sheffield United, racking up another assist, but if we're being realistic, we need better options if we're to push on and reclaim a place in the Champions League next season.
A right winger with those goal involvement stats is not to be sniffed at, and it's believed that Fenerbahce could be tempted to sell for around €20million (£17million) as that's what Sevilla have offered, launching Newcastle and Lazio into action.
Kahveci will be part of the Turkey squad fo Euro 2024 and if he has a good tournament, his price could rise, so it's in Newcastle's best interest to get a move on.
