Newcastle United were well off the pace last night as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Eddie Howe's former side, Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Bournemouth outclassed Newcastle in every area of the pitch as the congested fixture schedule and mountain of injuries continue to take their toll on Newcastle.
True to form, Eddie Howe refuses to use the injury crisis as an excuse and rightly so. It's too easy to blame luck, leave that to us, we'll do it for you, Eddie.
One thing that we didn't cover enough last night was just how good Bournemouth were. As we said, they outclassed Newcastle all over the pitch and took full advantage of our fatigue.
It's never nice to lose, obviously, but when the performance accompanying the loss was as poor as it was yesterday, it's no surprise that emotions were running a bit high.
Kieran Trippier ended up having a few words with an angry fan at full time where he asked the fan: "So the lads are not giving everything? How many injuries have we got, how many injuries have we got? Hey?"
Trippier immediately apologised for his actions on TV, although his account of what was said differs wildly from the truth. Also, the fan later took to social media to admit he let the occasion get to him and he regrets his actions.
So it's all water under the bridge, but just to make sure we are all United, Mehrdad Ghodoussi put up a rallying cry on X.
"We win together, we lose together, we stand together"
Simple. Perfect. Howay the lads!
