New signing spotted amongst squad as Newcastle United release video of their first day in Singapore
Most of Newcastle United's squad are out in Singapore for the first leg of their pre-season tour of Asia, with one notable exception that you may or may not have heard about, but definitely have because it's all anyone is talking about.
After naming a 29-man squad of players on Thursday - the start of the meltdown - the noticeable absences from the list were Alexander Isak and Martin Dubravka.
While everyone focused on Isak, few questions were asked about Dubravka, but now it has all become clear. The Slovakian was to be used as part of a deal to try and bring James Trafford to Tyneside, but now that Manchester City have tied that one up, M-Dubz is heading out to Asia to join up with the squad.
However, the squad out in Asia also has another addition, taking the number to 31 after new signing Park Seung-soo immediately joined up with the first team to return to his home country of South Korea after a stop off in Singapore.
Park Seung-soo was announced as a Newcastle United player on Thursday
Newcastle announced the signing of the 18-year-old Korean on Thursday, and during his first interview with the club media, he spoke about the weird feeling of returning to Suwon in Korea as an opposition player.
Park joined the Magpies from Suwon Samsung Bluewings and will now, as part of the pre-season tour, get to return home as a Newcastle player.
It sounded like he knew he was going to get a chance to impress with the first team, and that looks to be the case after he was clearly featured in the video posted by the club today of the lads on day one in Singapore.
Eddie Howe will get to cast an eye over Park Seung-soo in Asia
We said after Park was announced that it would have been a missed opportunity if the club didn't take him to Korea with them, given how the fans out there would love to see one of their own representing a Premier League club.
Additionally, it gives Eddie Howe an opportunity to cast an eye over the youngster ahead of him moving into the Under-21 set-up.
At least the club have got something right this week, eh?
