The Newcastle United fanbase is in a meltdown right now as the future of Alexander Isak hangs delicately in the balance.

Eddie Howe and his staff, along with 29 players, have jetted off to Singapore to start their Asian tour, which will also take them to South Korea.

Alexander Isak has stayed behind to nurse a thigh strain, if the media is to be believed. However, not taking your most famous player on the tour that has been set up with the intention of garnering a wider fanbase, regardless of whether or not he will play, seems very, very odd.

Meanwhile, one player not named on the 29-man squad list is likely to also be on the plane, or at least heading out for the Korean leg of the tour, given that's from where he hails.

Park Seung-soo is a Geordie!

As had been rumoured, and after being spotted in the crowd at Celtic Park, young Korean forward Park Seung-soo has officially signed for Newcastle, with the Magpies releasing an introductory video for the 18-year-old on X.

With all that's going on today, it's a bold move to play off Park's arrival like he's a first-team signing when, in fact, he'll be heading into the reserves to play in the Premier League 2.

We are excited to see what the kid can do, don't get us wrong, but many other academy players have joined,d and we've been lucky if we got a still image of them holding the shirt, never mind an announcement video. It all just feels a bit tone deaf given the current climate.

Newcastle will miss a huge opportunity if they don't fly Park Seung-soo out to Korea

Park Seung-soo has arrived full of ambition, saying that he wants to become a legend in the Premier League and can't wait to get his first goal at St James' Park.

There's no mention of him heading out to Korea to be part of Eddie Howe's squad, but it would feel like a huge missed opportunity if we didn't do that given how much Korean's love seeing one of their own making it in the Premier League.

We all want to see what the lad can do, and Steve Harper spoke very highly of him in the announcement on the official website.

"He's already shown maturity beyond his years in a competitive environment and we're delighted to welcome him to the club.

"His signing reflects our commitment to identifying and developing elite talent from across the globe and credit must go to our recruitment network, who continue to do an excellent job in identifying talented young players who have the potential to thrive here.

"We've seen our talent pathway produce some outstanding success stories in recent seasons and Park now joins a group of young players with that same opportunity ahead of them."
