New report suggests what needs to happen for Arsenal to actually make Alexander Isak bid - Good news for Newcastle United

It's a reality we're all going to have to accept as Newcastle United supporters that there is going to be near-constant speculation around our star players, particularly Alexander Isak.

With the club stalling talks over a new deal for our star striker, it was like opening the doors for speculation, and even though it's expected that talks will resume ahead of the summer, there's no closing that door until a new deal is signed.

The relentless links of Isak to Arsenal are likely to continue until there's something definitive to stop them, however, it does seem like the media in general is starting to soften on the Arsenal talks.

They are still doing the rounds, sure, but there seems to be a tinge of reality to the stories now, whereas before, it was just bold-faced entitlement.

Arsenal will only make a move if Alexander Isak refuses to sign a new deal at NUFC

The Boot Room, who I don't count as one of the sources plugging the Arsenal entitlement in the first place, have put out a report this morning that suggests that the Gunners would only act on their Isak interest if the forward refuses to sign a new deal at Newcastle.

That's a big if, too, as reports from around the club suggest that there'd be no issues getting him to sign up again, obviously depending on the terms being offered being acceptable.

There's always a chance that a release clause may have to be inserted into the deal, but the club did that with Bruno Guimaraes and it worked out fine, so we don't need to panic if that news breaks.

Alexander Isak is likely to still be a Newcastle player next season

Alexander Isak's current deal expires in 2028, so the Magpies are well covered if Isak doesn't sign a new deal before the end of the season.

If he indicates he wants to move, we still hold a strong negotiating position, but even if talks are still ongoing into next season, it doesn't look like Arsenal will make a move until they hear that Isak is refusing to sign.

It's looking more and more likely that Isak will still be a Newcastle United player next season.
