Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer may have let his bias shine through with his Team of the Week selections.
Garth Crooks picked two Newcastle United players for his Team of the Week for the BBC and we thought that there could have been more representation for the Magpies after their team effort against Manchester United on Saturday.
Alan Shearer has duly obliged with his Team of the Week pick for the Premier League choosing four Newcastle men in his side.
The back-four is made up of three Newcastle players with Anthony Gordon making the cut up front in a 4-3-3.
Tino Livramento, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar are the defenders Shearer picked, which is not surprising given how excellent all three were at the back for Newcastle, but more importantly, how well they all supported the attack. Fabian Schar looked desperate to get on the scoresheet on Saturday night and his fizzing effort that just went over the bar showed that.
Shearer added a few words about his picks for the Premier League website.
Kieran Trippier
"Not only was he outstanding defensively, Trippier was a huge threat going forward and laid the goal on a plate for Anthony Gordon."
Fabian Schar
"Made a crucial block to preserve Newcastle's lead. He's been near-faultless under Eddie Howe."
Tino Livramento
"Despite being out of position, as a right-back playing at left-back, Livramento more than handled Marcus Rashford's threat."
Anthony Gordon
"Although Newcastle don't have many options going forward, Gordon is making sure the goals keep coming."
Alan Shearer notes that Tino Livramento is playing out of position, but as we said on Sunday, you'd never know, and in fact, Dan Burn may struggle to reclaim his place when he returns to fitness.
