Newcastle United have a few players who fans and pundits believe are being overlooked for England right now.

Anthony Gordon has been one of the Premier League's most in-form players this season and many people cannot believe that Gareth Southgate continues to look past him in favour of players he's more familiar with who aren't necessarily in form, or are even injured.

Scotland are keeping tabs on his situation and may pounce to take him away from England ahead of Euro 2024, so if Southgate doesn't act soon, he could miss out on a future England star.

Tino Livramento must be close to an England nod

Similarly, Tino Livramento is eligible to play for England, Scotland and Portugal so if Southgate dawdles on him, England could lose out on the natural successor to Kieran Trippier.

It's something that wasn't lost on Gary Lineker, Danny Murphy and Alan Shearer in the Match of the Day studio last night with Lineker suggesting that Livramento could be in line for a call soon.

“I think Livramento might get a call from Gareth Southgate because he’s one of those players who could play for a couple of countries”

Alan Shearer agreed before Danny Murphy chimed in.

“We’ve got to get him in quickly. Get him capped because he is a super player”

Tino says he's focused on England but that could change

Livramento has represented England at youth level and has suggested that's where his heart lies, but at the end of the day, if he's constantly overlooked, when everyone can see he is international quality, he will play for another country.

The £32million signing from Southampton has been nothing short of sensational in the last three games, and has been brilliant in every game he's played since his summer switch. For us, Dan Burn doesn't get back into the team ahead of him right now, even if he comes back from injury tomorrow.

He links up brilliantly with Anthony Gordon and his ability going forward is just as good as when tracking back. He's the balance to Trippier we've needed for a while, and even though right-back is his preferred position, you'd never know it based off his recent performances.
