Mike Ashley took Newcastle United to court earlier this year after the club and Sportswear brand Adidas struck up an exclusivity deal with JD Sports that meant Sports Direct would not receive stock of the new NUFC kits.

The former Newcastle owner took exception to this and deemed it to be an unlawful move that goes against the interests of competition - this is despite there having already been several exclusivity deals in existence with other clubs and retailers.

Unsurprisingly, Mike Ashley's CAT case was thrown out as it was said that Sports Direct had no reasonable expectation to be permitted to sell Newcastle United stock.

Not happy with that outcome, Ashley lodged an appeal which was also unsuccessful.

If at first you don't succeed...

Now, NUFC360 has unearthed documents that suggesting that Mike Ashley is set to try again.

The documents on the CAT Tribunal website show a case involving Mike Ashley versus Newcastle United, Adidas and JD Sports is set to be heard in February 2026.

Just so you are aware that wasn't a typo, that's February twenty twenty six. Not even next February. What even is the point?

Mike Ashley must be paying a fortune in legal fees

The CAT already threw the case out once with an appeal being upheld, so what makes him think that two years down the line they're going to suddenly feel different?

It must be costing him a fortune. Probably more than he'd have made from selling the stock in the first place as no self-respecting Newcastle fan would buy from Sports Direct anyway.

It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Actually, no, it's just funny.
