MLS side Charlotte FC have officially pulled out of negotiations with Newcastle United over a move for winger Miguel Almiron, reports have confirmed.

The MLS outlet had entered negotiations with The Magpies over a potential move for the Paraguayan international to return to the league after five years away.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe's mindset clearly hasn't been swayed by the approach as Almiron is someone he values as an important player.

The 30-year-old is still very much part of Howe's plans for the season so Charlotte were already on the ropes entering negotiations.

Miguel Almiron to stay at Newcastle this season?

Charlotte had a representative in the UK trying to broker a deal earlier this week.

However, the MLS side's opening bid was knocked back by Newcastle as it was deemed to be way off their asking price.

Now, football journalist Fabrizio Romano has exclusively confirmed that a deal between the two clubs has collapsed.

Romano reported that there was an initial agreement on contract terms, but Newcastle's transfer fee request was too high forcing Charlotte to pull out of the deal.

Does Miguel Almiron staying at Newcastle impact incomings?

There is a big chance the Magpies are still struggling to pay big fees for players due to the ongoing struggles with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

It's a fiasco that has plagued many clubs this year and Newcastle are no exception to that.

Getting a good fee for Almiron would've helped alleviate their struggles and may even allow them to spend the money required for a player like Marc Guehi.

Howe is still in the market for a centre-back as well as a right-winger with Noni Madueke thought to be on the top targets.
