The next Miley is already partway down the conveyor belt at Newcastle United's academy.

Jamie Miley, Lewis MIley and Mason Miley have all realised their dream of representing Newcastle United at Under 21 level, while Lewis has gone on to force his way into the senior squad and is fast becoming an essential part of Eddie Howe's team.

Things didn't go quite as well for Jamie, the eldest Miley brother who made it to the fringes of the first team, but now plays for Hartlepool United.

Layton Miley is the black sheep of the family, having joined Sunderland's academy, the youngest Miley sibling is now with Middlesbrough.

Mason Miley made his first start for Newcastle United Under-21s against Sunderland today

Mason Miley is a regular for Newcastle's Under 18s, but he's recently been getting the odd run out for the Under 21s, and today, in a 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the Academy of Light, Miley got his first start for the Under 21s, playing 82 minutes.

Speaking to Newcastle's official site, Mason Miley says it's now his aim to get more game time for the Under-21s.

"From the start of the season, I think I've progressed quite a lot from playing week-in, week-out for the Under-18s. I want to prove my quality with the chances I'm getting for the Under-21s.

"I want to keep pushing on after my first start and try to get more appearances for the Under-21s this season. It's a step up but I haven't had many games since coming back after Christmas. Getting these games under my belt is really good and, hopefully in the upcoming games, I can then last the full match."

The Mileys are taking over

Like Lewis, Mason Miley also plays in midfield and, by all accounts, put in a good shift against the Mackems today.

Could we be about to have another set of brothers come through the academy and share the pitch for the first team, following on from Sean and Matty Longstaff?

It's probably going to be a few years before we see Mason around the first team, but we expect that Lewis will still be at the club. Unless the Premier League introduces more financial restrictions that force us to sell our best players again.
