Bobby Clark looks set to move on to the next step in his career after Liverpool agree deal to let him go.

Liverpool took advantage of Mike Ashley's stupidity by making a move for one of Newcastle United academy's brightest prospects. Bobby Clark was sold to the Reds for just £1.5 million just a couple of months before the PIF-backed takeover went through.

Bobby Clark, the son of former Newcastle midfielder Lee, had been earmarked as one to watch with Newcastle fans particularly hopeful of his success given his lineage.

However, the Toon Army was robbed of seeing what might have been as Clark agreed a move to Liverpool.

Clark was reportedly offered back to Newcastle

Three years on and Clark has flirted with the Liverpool first team. Former manager Jurgen Klopp was a big admirer of his and if the German gaffer had stuck around, chances are he'd have been getting closer to nailing down a first-team spot.

However, Klopp did Klippety off and now Liverpool have Arne Slot who has no sentimental attachment to Clark which has paved the way for his exit.

It did look like Clark's move to RB Salzburg was in jeopardy at one point which saw the 19-year-old linked with a move back to Newcastle, but with Liverpool wanting £12 million for him, there was no way Newcastle were going to pay almost ten times as much as what they sold him for.

Bobby Clark is getting his Red Bull fix

It now looks like £10 million has sealed the deal but Liverpool have whacked on a 17.5% sell-on clause too.

If Clark develops into the player we all hoped he would, that 17.5% could net Liverpool a pretty penny in a couple of years time as the Red Bull model is all about developing youngsters and selling them for a profit.

Chances are Clark's next move will be to RB Leipzig as that seems to be the trodden path for talent who come through at Salzburg.

Good luck to the lad.
