Newcastle United had to fight hard but eventually got their man when Tino Livramento joined from Southampton this summer.

The £32million transfer of Tino Livramento from Southampton to Newcastle was one of the more difficult deals Eddie Howe did over the summer with Southampton digging their heels in on his valuation.

Eventually, the deal did go through and Livramento already looks like a bargain.

Tino for Scotland?

The England Under 21 international is currently away with Lee Carsley's side where he's been speaking to the media about the possibility of switching allegiance to Scotland. Something which is a popular consideration at Newcastle right now with Elliot Anderson, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes all being courted by the Tartan Army.

Tino Livramento has strongly suggested that he will remain available for England selection having represented the country at every level except senior level (via The Daily Mail).

"I have a lot of respect and love for the England setup because I've been through every age group here."

Tino loves the friendliness up North

The 21-year-old also spoke about the difficult decision to join Newcastle. We often forget as fans, that footballers are people too, and often young people, so a 20-year-old (at the time of his transfer) moving from one end of the country to the other, is a big deal.

"The move was a tough decision, don’t get me wrong. Anyone in my position, to have that opportunity, would do what I’ve done.

"It’s a new experience, not only a new club but a new part of England all the way up north. It’s been exciting.

"There are a lot of fans you see when you go out for a coffee but they’re always respectful, nice and kind. It feels like a family up there, everyone loves you."

So, yeah, put that in your North/South divide and smoke it.
