Paris Saint-Germain's star striker, Kylian Mbappé, is poised to play on Tyneside for the first time after being named the travelling quad for our game with the French champions on Wednesday night:
Recovering from a recent ankle injury scare, Mbappé proved his fitness as he started in PSG’s goalless draw against Clermont Foot at the weekend.
Even though the French champions found it hard going against the Ligue 1 minnows, the fleet-footed forward got through the contest unscathed and is now set to start at St. James' Park.
Joining him in the travelling squad is veteran goalkeeper Keylor Navas, marking his own return from injury.
However, Enrique will miss the services of Nuno Mendes, Marco Asensio, and Fresnel Kimpembe, who are currently battling with their own fitness injuries.
Additionally, Hugo Ekitike (remember him?), Cher Ndour, and Layvin Kurzawa didn't make the cut for PSG's Champions League squad for the group stage and can't participate.
Eddie Howe is set to be without Harvey Barnes (toe), Sven Botman (knee), Joelinton (hamstring), Emil Krafth (also knee), Joe Willock (achilles), and Callum Wilson (also hamstring) for the game.
The head coach will have to rely on the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Sandro Tonali, and Alexander Isak to pull of a famous victory, as Tyneside waits with bated breath for its first Champions League game in 20 years.
We're sure St. James' Park and the Newcastle players will give Mbappé a very warm welcome...
