Newcastle United have reportedly been keen on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher for a long time and the England star keeps being linked with a move to Tyneside.

Our feelings on Conor Gallagher may be pretty well known at this point, but if you're new here, first of all, welcome, and just to get you up to speed: Conor Gallagher may be the most overrated player to have pulled on an England shirt in the last 10 years.

His spell at Crystal Palace made him look like a baller, but he has been well and truly Chelsea'd now. He is capable of a good game every now and then, and sure he will score the odd worldie, but his output is akin to Allan Saint-Maximin's - very little, but when he gets it right, that's all anyone remembers.

So when Newcastle United are linked with him, we start to hope for something, anything to derail the speculation and ensure it doesn't happen.

Conor Gallagher could be heading to Spain

Trippier has been speaking to Gallagher over a move

Imagine the horror this morning then, when Sports Witness ran this headline: "Agent Trippier – Newcastle United player trying to help out with transfer effort".

Kieran Trippier and Conor Gallagher were part of Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 finalists England squad with both players seeing plenty of minutes throughout the tournament.

Thankfully, it turns out that Trippier was working as an agent for his former club, Atletico Madrid with the Spanish side setting their sights on Gallagher according to AS.

Atletico have made what can only be described as a cheeky bid

The report claims that Atletico have offered Chelsea €20million (£16.8million) which has been rejected by Chelsea, but they are keen to sell if the right offer comes in.

Newcastle were always quoted anywhere between £40million-£52million for Gallagher, so there's a lot of ground to make up there. It'll be interesting to see what the fee ends up being if he goes.

We're just keeping our fingers crossed that Trippier did a good job bigging up Atletico and never mentioned Newcastle.
