Kieran Trippier answers question about return of Tyne-Wear derby on press duty in South Korea and Newcastle United fans are loving it
Kieran Trippier has brought the positivity that Newcastle United fans have been craving for weeks while facing fans' questions in South Korea.
Sporting the new away shirt, which launched today, Kieran Trippier, flanked by Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schar, was asked about the return of the Tyne-Wear derbies next season.
Sunderland somehow defied the odds to gain promotion to the Premier League by beating Coventry City in the play-off final.
It's the Mackems' return to the top flight after an eight year absenc,e which saw them spend a couple of seasons down in League One, bringing about the return of the Premier League North East derbies.
Kieran Trippier is looking forward to facing Sunderland again
Sunderland fans will take great pleasure in reminding Newcastle fans that they have won the last six league derbies in a row, but their winning streak was halted two seasons ago when Newcastle knocked Sunderland out of the FA Cup in the first meeting between the two sides for years.
Now with two more derbies to come this season, Kieran Trippier is very much looking forward to them, and it seems he is also invested in Sunderland's Premier League fate.
"The amount of sh*t I got off them last time, I can't wait to beat them again to be honest with you. But no, looking forward to playing them.
"I think it's good for the city as well. It's good for them to get promoted, but it would be also nice to see them get relegated as well."
How can you not love Kieran Trippier?
This is what we love about Tripps. He just gets it. He knows the club, he knows what to say and when to say it.
Also, as fans on social media are now very keen to point out, it wasn't too long ago that Trippier was linked with a move away from Newcastle, but he didn't down tools and kick up a fuss, he just got on with things, and given what's going on with Alexander Isak, it's good to remember that some players still know how to conduct themselves.
Trippier may have had a spell where we were all on his back for poor performances, but ever the professional, he dealt with it, knuckled down and got back to his best and at 34, he's still going strong.
