Newcastle United are waiting to officially announce the record signing of German international striker Nick Woltemade.

The 23-year-old has passed his medical on Tyneside, and it's just a case of dotting Is and crossing Ts before the £69 million deal is formally announced.

It seems like the Magpies missed the midday deadline to get all of the paperwork signed in time to have Woltemade available for tomorrow's game at Leeds.

There is a chance that they did get it all wrapped up in tim,e and the hold up on the announcement is just getting everything ready from a media sense, but that's being optimistic.

Nick Woltemade will not take the Number 9 shirt

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has revealed on X that Nick Woltemade will be given the number 27 shirt, which drops a huge hint that there could be another striker to come in before Monday's deadline.

Brentford have today made a firm offer for Borussia Dortmund's Max Beier, which suggests that they are expecting Yoane Wissa to go.

The next three days are going to be insanely busy in terms of transfers

If Brentford get Beier over the line, Newcastle will surely return with an offer for Yoane Wissa, and we should see the DR Congo forward in at Newcastle before Monday's deadline, and we expect that's who will wear the famous Number 9 next season.

In the meantime, Wissa has been left out of Brentford's squad to face Sunderland tomorrow, which again heavily suggests the Bees are expecting movement.

It's all coming together nicely in the end for Newcastle, and the cherry on top would be a nice £100 million in the bank for letting Alexander Isak join Liverpool with Harvey Elliot coming the other way as part of the deal.
