Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has given us an insight into his takeaways from Tuesday morning's press conference with Eddie Howe and how he's interpreted the gaffer's words.
We all know by now that Eddie Howe is very careful and considered with his answers when facing the media, and quite often he purposefully leaves things ambiguous, so what one reporter may deem a positive, another could spin as a negative.
This is perhaps one of the biggest reasons why no two publications can ever seem to agree on what sort of budget Newcastle are looking at this summer.
The conservative approach by the club in the last three windows combined with player sales suggests a decent lump of cash for Newcastle to invest, but other outlets are still saying that we're not out of the PSR woods yet.
As a relatively elderly Newcastle United supporter who has learned to always expect the worst, I'm just naturally inclined to believe that PSR is still cutting us off at the knees, but in Keith Downie's YouTube video today, he has interpreted something Eddie Howe said as a big indicator of an exciting summer ahead.
"He agreed that without doubt, over the last three transfer windows and over the last 12 months, the football clubs has stood still, the club have taken a bit of a hit, but it was necessary and it was nobody's fault what happened and the club have had to ride that through.
"I get the impression the way he's talking, though, and he's kind of hinted at it in the last couple of press conferences, that the summer will be a big one and Newcastle will have funds to spend. And Yasir Al-Rumayyan will have seen that himself on Sunday, that the team is in need of help."
This snippet came as part of a larger info dump regarding Eddie Howe's admission that 'drastic changes' need to be made at the football club to consistently compete at the top. A very timely statement to make following the visit of Yasir Al-Rumayyan and the other delegates from the PIF.
The good news is that Eddie Howe spoke positively about the meetings he was privy to over Sunday and Monday and confirmed that the PIF remain very much invested in Newcastle United.
Obviously, PSR is going to play its part again in the summer, but we'll see just how well these last few transfer windows have helped us in terms of building up a war chest for the summer.
