Transfer speculation is amazing, isn't it? As Keith Downie stands outside St James' Park telling Sky Sports he expects Liverpool to come back at Newcastle United with a second bid for Alexander Isak, contrary reports start to do the rounds on social media.

We've always said that transfer journalism is just pure guesswork, with a little bit of bullshido mixed in to generate some clicks.

Never has this been more apparent than right now as Ben Jacobs posts his update on social media regarding Liverpool's pursuit of Alexander Isak.

We now know there's a definite interest there from Liverpool, having now made a bid, but it seems Newcastle have made things very clear to them that the Swedish star is going nowhere this summer. At least according to Ben Jacobs.

To bid or not to bid? That is the question

Jacobs says that Liverpool will not return with a second bid as they feel it is futile, which is in stark contrast to what Keith Downie reported.

🚨 Exclusive: Liverpool have no plans as it stands to bid again for Alexander Isak this window.

Nature of #NUFC’s rebuttal means Liverpool will NOT follow up with a second offer.

Regarded as futile unless Newcastle change their stance and contact Liverpool.

Offer rejected was £110m. Terms with Isak not a problem.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Like we say, it's pure guesswork. We've no doubt that both journalists are only reporting what they've been told, but they can only be as accurate as the people providing the information.

Until we have an announcement from either club, it's all going to be speculation, which is great if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Our heads are battered. We're ready for the resolution now.
