Lille and Canada striker Jonathan David is preparing to become one of the hottest properties this summer when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has said since the start of this campaign that it would likely be his last at Lille, but he hasn't taken his foot off the gas for the Ligue 1 outfit.
Jonathan David has 20 goals and nine assists in 35 games in all competitions for Lille this season, and his stock continues to rise.
Lille must be absolutely devastated that not only will they be losing such a good player this summer, but they won't receive a penny from it.
Newcastle United have been eyeing the forward since the summer and are expected to be in the mix for his signature in the summer, although we've often said that it's a big task that lies ahead of them.
David is good enough to start every week for a Premier League side, so he may be apprehensive about joining Newcastle knowing he has Alexander Isak to contend with for that starting place.
Wherever he ends up, he's almost guaranteed to be a success, but as for where he goes, we'll have to wait and see.
Jonathan David has spoken again about his future and has emphasised the need to enjoy what he's doing wherever he ends up next in an interview with Oze Mondial.
“Yes, I will be free at the end of the season. As for my future, I hope to grow, become a better player and play for the biggest clubs in the world, if I can.
“But first of all, I just want to have fun, never forget that football is fun. I started playing football because I had fun. And even though it has now become a job, you have to remember that I wake up every morning for football, for the pleasure of playing.
“Do you want any clues about my future? You will all know in due time, that is at the end of the season. I will not comment before then. First of all, I want to finish this season well, the end looks exciting and I want to play well and help the team. And when the season is over, the decision will be made and announced.”
Newcastle is a fun place to play football, JD, also ... have you seen them bridges?
