If the media are to be believed it is pretty much a coin toss as to whether Anthony Gordon says at Newcastle United or goes to Liverpool this summer.
An hour ago we put up a story about how Newcastle United are going to sit down with Anthony Gordon next week and thrash out terms on a new deal after being impressed with him last season.
Also likely to assuage their guilt after offering him up as a sacrifice to the God of PSR a the end of June and kicking off this whole Gordon to Liverpool crapfest.
Had it been any other club, we'd probably have seen these stories disappear soon after they surfaced, but because we tried to deal with the club he supported as a boy, it's too easy to write about Gordon's head being turned.
Now journalist Mark Ogden has said his piece on ESPN after Liverpool's 2-1 friendly win over Arsenal.
“Anthony Gordon is a player that Liverpool like and I think that deal might happen before the window closes at the end of August.
“Newcastle would get the money to come in and add to the squad in terms of signing players, Newcastle like a lot of clubs are not struggling with PSR but they need to move people around.
“Liverpool are keen on Anthony Gordon and Gordon I've been told he's keen on going to Liverpool.
"We've got a month to go before the window closes, Liverpool needs to get some players in you can't change the manager, a big manager like [Jurgen] Klopp and not bring players in.”
As we said in our previous story, we are fairly confident that Gordon will stay, although that is based on nothing but a gut feeling, we have no insider info.
One thing is clear. Until Gordon is pictured signing a new contract or pictured at Anfield holding a Liverpool scarf, this story isn't going away while the transfer window is open.
I don't know about you, but I can't wait for the Premier League to start up again and we can move on from this summer. It has been, what the French call, merde!
