Wolverhampton Wanderers are picking up points where nobody expected them to lately, and a lot of that has been down to the scintillating form of forward Matheus Cunha.

Cunha has been on Newcastle United's radar for a while with the Magpies also weighing up a move for the talented forward before he joined Wolves.

Newcastle have been keeping an eye on his development at the Midlands club and were even recently linked with a move for the 25-year-old.

After having bagged 10 goals already this season, including three in his last four outings, Wolves are now going to have to do without his services for a while.

Matheus Cunha has been handed a two-game ban and a £80k fine

Cunha lost his cool at full-time in the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town and has faced charges from the FA. His fate has now been revealed.

The Brazilian has been given a two-match ban and £80,000 fine which rules him out of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest and the FA Cup game with Bristol City.

That means Cunha will be available for the game against Newcastle United at St James' Park on 15th January.

Newcastle will have to deal with Matheus Cunha later this month

Hopefully, for us, a couple of games out will put just enough rust on the striker to make it easier for our lads to render him ineffective.

Who knows, by then we might have signed the £44 million man from Wolves and he could turn out for us instead.

Okay, so there's more chance of me joining a gym than there is of that happening.
