Newcastle United's chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan made a rare appearance at St James' Park on Sunday as the governor of the PIF is reportedly in town to look over the proposals for St James' Park.

The chairman is set to take in a presentation from Brad Miller on the two options for the future of Newcastle's stadium - a St James' Park revamp, which will increase capacity to around 60,000, or a bespoke new stadium with a 70,000 capacity, which is expected to be built on Leazes Park just behind the current stadium.

Fans are hoping for an update soon, and Yasir Al-Rumayyan's presence does suggest that we're moving ever closer to an update.

First, though, the man who holds the money for Newcastle United took in the seven-goal thriller against Nottingham Forest, seeing first-hand both sides of Newcastle United. The excellent and the downright awful. It was perhaps the best game he could have been in town for, as now he can see just how desperate we are for investment on the pitch.

Eddie Howe admits to swearing at Yasir Al-Rumayyan

Eddie Howe was clearly biting his tongue in interviews after the game yesterday after that shocking second half, but it sounds like he wasn't so careful with his words when talking to Yasir Al-Rumayyan as reported by The Northern Echo.

"I spoke to him very briefly after the game, just for 10 or 15 seconds before coming to see you.

"I'm not 100% sure (why he's here), it was just good to see him."

Asked what was said in that brief chat, Howe laughed:

"A couple of swear words from me about the game, I think. He was in the same emotional state as I was about the game, so it was a nice moment.

"He's very invested in the football club, he's on top of everything. It was definitely great to see him."

We await further updates on the stadium

We're sure that Al-Rumayyan would gladly hand over the money required for a spending spree in the summer if PSR wasn't standing in our way, so while it was good that he got to see the need for investment, it's probably frustrating him that he can't just wave his magic money wand to help the side out.

It will, though, underline the importance of getting this stadium decision right, as well as pressing home the need for big commercial partnerships. If we can't inject money into the club, we have to find ways of earning it.

Green lighting the next phase of the stadium plan would be a good start.
