The PIF's third annual private sector forum was held this week and couldn't have fallen at a better time for Newcastle United.

Just a couple of days before a tribunal declared that the Premier League's Associated Party Transaction rules were unlawful and unenforceable, Yasir Al-Rumayyan urged PIF partners to take advantage of the available partnership opportunities with Newcastle United.

There are still several untapped sponsorship opportunities available at the club with no sponsor yet found for the training kit, training ground or a potential naming rights deal for St James' Park, all of which would bring in extra revenue to the club to help with PSR.

With the Premier League's APT rules, which were brought in directly as a response to Newcastle's takeover, now falling apart, the Magpies could be about to make some big moves in the partnership space.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan was encouraging PIF stakeholders to partner up which could benefit NUFC

The Chronicle reported on the PIF's event where Newcastle Chairman urged stakeholders to take full advantage of the opportunities around them.

"The private sector is a pivotal partner in this successful journey and is part of the national economic transformation. I encourage you to continue developing capabilities and enhancing competitiveness to keep pace with the economic growth in Saudi Arabia and the future projects, and I invite you to take advantage of the partnership opportunities available with the PIF and portfolio companies."

Now that the APT doors have swung open, those in attendance could be looking towards NUFC as a way to advertise in the UK and crack the market over here.

Newcastle are awaiting the outcome of the latest fight between Man City and the Premier League

The current APT ruling only applies to the rules in place between December 2021 and November 2024, but Manchester City are contesting the current rules too, which are minor amendments made by the Premier League following the initial ruling in November, and if City win this case, the entire APT rule could be scrapped.

The Premier League are seeking a quick resolution, so Newcastle may not have long to wait to find out what kind of deals they can set up.

It's unlikely to blow the doors of PSR as there are still APT-type rules to adhere to from UEFA, but it surely won't hurt.
