'He's keen': Eddie Howe now praises Newcastle United's wonderkid and says 'the future will be the judge'

Lewis Miley has been grabbing the headlines for Newcastle United lately after two accomplished back-to-back performances.

The 17-year-old has been thrust into the starting eleven for Newcastle in two high-profile games against Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain and will most likely feature tomorrow against Manchester United.

Despite his young age and the fact that he looks like a six-foot toddler (sorry, mate), Miley has not for a second looked out of place on the pitch up against the likes of £107million man Enzo Fernandez and 'best player in the world' Kylian Mbappe.

We compared Miley to Jude Bellingham the other day, and we expect that people probably rolled their eyes when they read it, but why can't Newcastle produce a player with world-class potential?

Eddie Howe certainly doesn't think there's a limit to what Miley can do so we shouldn't be surprised if greatness is in his future. Of course, managing expectations is the key here, both for fans and for Eddie Howe and Miley.

Speaking about Lewis Miley in this morning's pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe has hinted that he has all the confidence in the world that Miley can be a star.

"The future will be the judge for Lewis but he's had an early taste of high level football which can only be good for him. He's able to take everything in his stride. For someone so young, he's got a good perspective on sport and life. He's very calm. Very polite, very respectful. But he's keen to show his qualities."

The future surely will judge him, but right now there are zero indications that his future will be anything but great.

The great thing is, that with the trajectory the club is heading, we are far less likely to lose Miley to another club now than we would have if he'd come through the ranks pre-takeover.

Although, let's be honest, with the managers we'd had pre-takeover, the poor kid would never have even got his chance, so everything is coming up Miley, thankfully.
