As we head towards the new season, Newcastle United fans have a tacit agreement that there is still plenty of transfer business to be done before the team is ready.

Be it incoming or outgoing, there's still a lot of potential business to be done at St James' Park with the likes of Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis still on the books at the club and no real exciting additions to the squad beyond Lloyd Kelly.

There are a couple of first-team players who have served Eddie Howe well since he arrived who could also do with being moved on at this point, such as Miguel Almiron who the club are trying to offload and Callum Wilson who conveniently, and inevitably, got himself injured so there's very little chance that we'll move him on this summer now.

Another popular figure on Tyneside who could be heading for the exit is Eddie Howe's first Newcastle United signing, and perhaps his most successful alongside Bruno Guimaraes: Kieran Trippier.

Trippier's contribution to Newcastle can't be overstated

Trippier's arrival transformed Newcastle United as he became Eddie Howe's left-hand man (nobody removes Jason Tindall from his right hand). The England defender's influence over the team cannot be underestimated and without him, we likely wouldn't have escaped relegation in Howe's first half-season.

However, the last 12 months have been a stark contrast in terms of form, and while Alan Shearer praised his 'unbelievable' crossing ability on the Rest Is Football Podcast, we've seen fewer and fewer of those dangerous balls into the box, partly due to his lack of availability through injury, but there's no getting away from the reality that his form had dipped significantly.

While he's still worth something, it would be wise to cash in this summer rather than lose him for free when his contract expires next year. A move to Saudi Arabia has been heavily rumoured but now, The Boot Room is reporting that Turkish side Galatasaray are interested.

Trippier's days at Newcastle United look numbered

The Telegraph recently claimed that an exit for Trippier was 'increasingly certain' and that definitely seems to be the case.

Galatasaray are said to be in the market for a new right-back and are claimed to be the most advanced in terms of the interest in Trippier, currently beating out the Saudi Pro League sides.

Tino Livramanto is more than ready to take over the right-back mantle from Trippier with Emil Krafth and Harrison Ashby as backup should the club opt to keep the former West Ham man around this season rather than loan him out again.
