At the same time Newcastle United dropped their interview with Eddie Howe online, the BBC's also released a clip of Matthew Raisbeck chatting to the gaffer.

Unlike the Newcastle United interview which covered everything, the BBC edited their clip down to focus on the England speculation and Eddie Howe's message to the fans.

We're not saying that Eddie Howe had prepared for his media duties, but we will say that his answers to the England question from NUFC TV and the BBC were almost identical.

Howe once again outlined his commitment to Newcastle and actually, was even more emphatic about it with the BBC.

Eddie Howe is 'determined' to bring silverware to Newcastle

When asked if he could put supporters' minds at ease that he'd be here next season, Howe emphasised that he is very happy at the club and as long as that remains the case, he will remain in charge for years to come.

He even spoke about his desire to finally bring silverware to the club after such a long wait.

"I am determined to try and win a trophy for the football club, that's in my psyche every day. I want to see joy in the supporters, I want to bring that to them, hopefully. I think that's my big message to them, and I want to thank them for how they've treated me since I came in."

Newcastle don't seem too far away from lifting a trophy

Given that the Magpies don't have the distraction of midweek fixtures in Europe this season, that gives Howe's lads more energy to focus on the domestic side of the game and to get back into Europe again.

Hopefully, by the following season, the squad will be at a level where the extra fixtures won't take such a toll as they did last season, and with the addition of James Bunce and Paul Mitchell and their mission of identifying injury issues, we should be in a very good place to compete on all fronts sooner rather than later.

As for actual silverware, the improvements we've already made in the cups is fantastic and again, it was likely the injury issues that halted us last season, so there's no reason why we can't be back at Wembley during the next campaign.
