Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has jumped to praise the 'pivotal' Toon winger Miguel Almiron ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of next season but looked set for departure this summer with a number of clubs in the Saudi Pro League reportedly interested.

The Magpies are in the market for a new right-winger and are working tirelessly to bring in new players ahead of the new season.

But now, Almiron looks set to remain at the club until the end of his contract after positive comments from Howe.

Eddie Howe: 'looking forward' to working with Almiron again

Almiron returned to training last week and has been included in the Magpies squad that has travelled to Japan for their pre-season tour.

On Almiron, Howe said: "Miggy's been unbelievable for Newcastle, long before I came, but also since I've been here he's been an absolutely pivotal player, a key player."

"We love him, we love his personality, we love working with him.

He's come back with a big smile on his face so I'm looking forward to working with him again."

Newcastle in the market for a right-winger

The Magpies are eager to bring in a quality right-wing option before the start of the season.

There have been several names mentioned throughout the transfer window including Anthony Elanga, Michael Olise, Raphina and Noni Madueke.

Newcastle have most recently been working on Madueke and there were even reports that he had agreed personal terms with the club but no movements have been made since.

Almiron looks set to begin the new season at the club but the order in which he starts is still under debate.
