Newcastle United travel to the City Ground tomorrow to take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League - kick-off is 5:30pm live on Sky Sports.

As is tradition, Eddie Howe faced the media this morning and was immediately asked for updates on the still impressive injury list.

While it wasn't fantastic news, Eddie Howe must be feeling a bit better now being able to deliver slightly positive updates.

It's not good news for Isak and Gordon heading to Forest

Although, initially it wasn't all positive with Howe admitting that Anthony Gordon hasn't trained this week and won't be available for Forest with a similar story for Alexander Isak.

Howe told the gathered journos that both players' injuries aren't thought to be too serious and as such they won't miss too many games before going on to provide a few positive updates on Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson (via The Chronicle).

"They're doing well at this moment in time. Joe is working really hard with the sports science team. He's at the final stage of his rehab. Elliot isn't far away either. He's really picked up his running."

Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson are getting closer

Estimates are the end of February for Joe Willock and just a bit longer for Anderson.

If the squad can keep injury-free from now until the end of the season, with the players coming back, Newcastle could mount a late charge in the Premier League and squeeze their way back into those European places.

However, given our luck this season it's best not to hold your breath.
